What is God?
We believe that God is an unknown mystery. We believe the sense or suspicion of a God could be:
- An actual third party entity that inspires us through our mind and feelings but is otherwise concealed
- A subconscious process that we don’t normally identify as part of our ‘selves’, but is a psychological part of us none the less.
- Forces of the universe influencing us naturally towards our goals of procreation, creation and development.
- The cells of our body collectively speaking to us through a sort of biological democracy
- A universal consciousness which we are part of
- Our very selves, as children of God
- A figment of our imagination, wishful thinking, an imaginary friend
Regardless of what God is, we believe there is something within us that needs to be respected and loved, even if it is simply ourselves, our own minds. This respect and love can lead to joy.
Our approach to God is that regardless of definition, the experience of God is essentially the same in all of us. There may be a variety of explanations for the effects attributed to God, but we believe that the effects are ultimately the same.
If God is an imaginary friend, that is still ok, because when we discuss, talk to or ask questions of that imaginary friend, we are still reaching beyond our normal thought processes and become open to inspiration, answers and fellowship…perhaps from our subconscious, perhaps from a third party Entity.
